Day nine: This monkeys gone to heaven
In response to your comments from yesterday.
Bunk,
I forgot how sensitive you are to criticism.
As far as life advice goes, you are absolutely right. Jay is a 'big boy' now and is perfectly capable of handling his business.
I would just like to finish that list with a thought...mafia, grandma, single person.
..unless they are paying you to listen or you can learn from their mistakes.
I dont know what all the references are but what is obvious is you have never seen the Big Lebowski or you didn't like it. Or maybe the attempt at approbation doesn't suit you. The best thing about your comment was the part where you tell him to be 'really, really, really, circumspect about who you listen to.'
I think its hog calling time in Nebraska. We aint 20 anymore. You are a good teacher, philosopher, and thinker. No doubt. Your are so right about so many things, but its simply too hard to follow your lifestyle and worldview. It doesn't add up for me and I think that since Jay hasn't moved out to the ranch in 7 years, its pretty safe to say where he is at.
I know the all of your criticisms, so spare the rebuke for a far greater foe. Although you are more than welcome to expound on your criticism here. I wont delete or censure it. My point is, lets all be what we are instead of pretending we are this psuedo-professional with an AK-47 ready for Armaggedon with the ATF. Jay will be no where near that fight and you know it. The reason is, Jay doesn't really believe your doctrine or worldview either. If he really did, by your standards..he would be there.
We are friends. That doesn't mean we have to all agree on everything, even religion. We can still be gracious to one another.
Was I predestined to write this, or did I have too much caffiene?
Here we go!!

First,
Loved Big Lebowski and have watched it many times. I think, however, for folks who begin to idolize the frivolity and lack of responsibility available only in the movies, it may not be the right role model at the moment. Jay already has a tendency to laziness and sloth, so when you couple that with mountainous and unreasonable self-esteem you really have a recipe for disaster. My only point is that Jay ought to be getting good advice from his friends, and while I appreciate satire, sarcasm, irony and even fart humor, I also know that pushing Jay into self-destructive paths falls short of art.
I agree with much of what you have said, except the AK-47 part which is really part of the make believe created by fantasists and world lovers like Helmut. I don't own an AK-47, have no personal beef with the ATF and realize that the comparisons are usually created by Helmutites to make pure and simple Agrarianism much more diabolical so they can rationalize hedonism, worldliness and biblical revisionism.
That said, I agree that Jay does not believe what I believe. That is evident, for the reasons you have named. But my responsibility (if I believe what I preach) is to continue to preach it regardless of who believes it. Isaiah had virtually no converts, and Ezekiel had exactly zero after 33 years. I am not disappointed or shocked that I am not believed, the very Bible I preach from says that will be the way it is.
The fact is that (and no, I do not think I am Ezekiel or Isaiah - had to disarm that ridiculous knee jerk response) Ezekiel and Isaiah prophesied specific events that would occur in the life of Israel, including the catastrophes and punishments that would come upon her. If Jay is honest (and I believe he is) he would have to tell you that I have accurately done the same concerning his life for 12 years. I have told him what is going to happen and when. And in this case, I can tell him that if he continues on in his foolish and irreligious lifestyle, having heard the truth and having given lipservice to it, that he will fail most miserably over and over again until he either gives up or perishes. Now, that is just a fact. To be honest with you, we have no land available here on the land (it is all sold) and I have no need for another mouth to feed or another student to teach. Battling Jay's pride and self-image would be a herculean task, but I do care for him enough to try to help him. This doesn't mean I will be there with him if he ass rapes a donkey, because the Bible commands me not to do that, but I personally like to see Jay get on solid ground and get his mind right before that happens.
I'm not the one calling the man poor and pathetic. I'm calling him human and lost like the whole lot of you all who are his friends. That doesn't mean that I am not your friend or that I am trashing you. It means I am doing my job. I have my own problems, sins, distractions and disasters to deal with, but I wouldn't mind having at least one or two more converts than those who went before.
Your friend,
Michael
Well put Michael.
Perhaps you are right and we are a lost lot. But all is as it should be. Right now Jay is poor and pathetic, I'm not calling him that to be mean, that is the way it is. I'm a friend, as you are, telling him the truth. I think he can do better. He doesn't need me, you, or Dr. Phil. He needs to get himself motivated to something other than the same old deal. To borrow a favorite phrase, how's that working out for ya?
By the way, I made you type, "ass rapes a donkey" , and I am going to laugh all day about that. HA!
I didn't say anything negative about your lifestyle, it just seems to be something that Jay doesn't want to do. I look at what you are doing from a blog and website. I have never been there, but I have been on a farm before. You are living as you want to and I am all for it. It seems like all is well.
As for the gun comment, well I think it is a bit reckless to spend money on another firearm, when the three or four he has will do just fine.
I dont know how Helmut got in this. If anyone is talking about the evils of of hedonism lately, it has been Helmut.
I dont want this to digress into the gay not gay not thing in Top Gun. All I am saying is, choices have to be made and acted on decisively.
Either Jay is going to be a man of the world or not. Trying to do both is failure as you have pointed out. We are essentially giving the same advice from two different perspectives.
I am a man of the world in your nomenclature. You aren't. Jay is trying to do both, so I guess in a sense you are Iceman and I'm Kelly McGillis and Jay is Maverick. He needs to choose if he is gay or not gay.
Hey, why do you get to be Kelly McGillis? I vote gay, but I hope that doesn't mean I get him.

No wait, Jay is Shirl, I'm Dwayne, and your Re-run. And Helmut is Raj. There really is more to hit 70's television than you realize.

I need a copy of A.W. Pinks Idiots Guide to the Non-Elected Elect to follow this conversation.
I'm going to watch tv....
Helmut is NOT Rog. Helmut is the guy who owned the diner. And you are not Dwayne. Ron is Dwayne. I'll be re-run because that means I get to slip into the Doobies concert with a tape recorder around my neck.
Helmut, don't waste your time on Pink... you'll choke on the pearls. There are no "non-elect". Everyone is elected to something, so in that respect it is alot like the Boy Scouts, or is it the Campfire girls... I get it mixed up.
M
You may be right. I think being elected is really overrated anyway. I'd rather be written in. That way you get away from the hanging of the chads....
Which is why it is great that everyone is elected, though it is a bit put-offish that some are elected to be blinded, selfish, worldly and damned, but who are we to challenge God on that deal. He has the only vote that counts. Which avoids that whole recount, lawsuit, supreme court thingy.
